CDC ELITE Legionella Program Certification:
Commitment to Excellence in Legionella Testing
The ELITE Program is an initiative by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure laboratories are proficient in detecting Legionella bacteria. Legionella is the causative agent of Legionnaires’ disease, a severe form of pneumonia that can be life-threatening. Accurate detection and timely reporting are critical in preventing outbreaks and protecting public health. Achieving CDC ELITE certification means that Biosan Laboratories has demonstrated exceptional accuracy and reliability in Legionella detection. The certification is awarded only to laboratories that successfully meet or exceed the CDC’s rigorous standards in isolating and identifying Legionella from environmental samples.
EGLE Certification for Potable Water Coliform Testing:
Biosan Laboratories is fully certified by the State of Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) for coliform testing in water. This certification ensures that our procedures, personnel, and results meet the highest standards established by the state for water quality testing. The EGLE certification is granted to laboratories that demonstrate proficiency in water microbiology testing and adhere to stringent quality control standards. This includes routine proficiency evaluations, strict adherence to approved testing methodologies, comprehensive quality assurance and quality control programs, and regular audits and inspections by EGLE officials.
